Drainage
Curtain drains, foundation perimeter drains, culverts, and regrading — for water that is going somewhere it should not.
Water problems are rarely where they appear. A wet basement is usually a grading problem twenty feet away, and a driveway that washes out every spring is usually a culvert that is undersized, blocked, or was never there.
The diagnosis matters more than the equipment. We would rather spend an hour working out where the water actually comes from than sell you a trench that moves the problem somewhere else on your property.
What the work covers
- Curtain and interceptor drains, to cut off water moving downhill toward a structure
- Foundation perimeter drains, on new builds and retrofits
- Culverts and ditching, sized for the water they will actually see
- Swales and regrading, which is often the cheapest real fix
- Roof runoff carried away from the foundation rather than dumped beside it
Frost changes the rules
Anything shallow that holds water will heave. Drainage installed at the wrong depth in Maine does not fail in the first year. It fails in the third, when nobody connects the problem back to the work. Depth and bedding are not the places to save money.
