Land Clearing

Most lots in York County are not clear ground. They are mixed hardwood and pine over glacial till, often with ledge somewhere near the surface and a wet corner nobody mentions until the machines arrive.

We do smaller-scale land clearing: a building envelope, a driveway corridor, a septic area, with everything else left standing. We agree the extent with you on site before anything comes down, and we do not clearcut. Taking a whole parcel down is forestry work, and somebody else’s trade.

What the work covers

• Smaller-scale clearing, including tight work near existing structures
• Building envelopes, driveway corridors, and septic areas
• Stump removal, or on-site grinding where that suits the site better
• Brush chipping, with slash chipped, piled, or hauled off
• Silt fence and erosion control where the grade calls for it

Clearing only what you need

There is a real cost to every tree that comes down beyond the cutting. Each stump pulled leaves a hole to fill and compact, and any slope left bare needs erosion control until it is stabilised. Clearing to the envelope you actually need keeps both down.

A screen of trees along a boundary costs nothing to leave and does a lot of work: privacy, wind, and a lot that looks settled rather than stripped.

Where a lot falls inside shoreland zoning, clearing limits apply and are worth establishing before a saw starts. We can work to them.

If you are not sure where the line should be, we will walk the lot with you and mark it before anything comes down. That conversation is easier standing on the ground than looking at a plan.
